A GOVERNMENT pilot scheme was launched this week, aimed at making schools healthier places. Eight schools in deprived areas - one in each English NHS region - are taking part in the Healthy Schools Network initiative. Meanwhile, a bus full of television cooks and restaurateurs is kicking off a five-year trip around Britain to promote food in schools. The bus, which opens out to become a cookery demonstration unit, is part of the RSA’s Focus on Food campaign. It includes Food Week later this month and a research project that will track children’s attitudes to food in 20 primary schools over five years.
