Schools in England are “hoarding” a record #163;2.4 billion of unspent funds, an amount that has soared by more than #163;600 million since the coalition government came to power. Figures released by the Department for Education revealed that a handful of schools were sitting on unspent surpluses of more than #163;1 million, prompting questions over the use of the pupil premium, which is supposed to be spent on educating pupils from deprived backgrounds.
