The concert hall is no place for assessing musical performance. At least not to the Scottish Qualifications Authority. A markedly unharmonious note has been sent to principal teachers about “unacceptable performances” for the Certificate of Sixth Year Studies.
The note states that a number of visiting examiners are being asked to attend concert performances in front of invited audiences or the general public to carry out their assessment. “While recognising the value of a concert performance in the preparation of candidates, it is totally inappropriate in terms of external assessment.”
So no claques or clapping.
