Teachers at Holy Spirit primary in St Helens were due to go on strike yesterday in a dispute over pay and conditions.
Members of the NASUWT union took the action over changes to staffing structures caused by the introduction of teaching and learning responsibility points. The union claims that some teachers have been asked to take on extra work without extra pay.
Chris Keates, NASUWT general secretary, said: “The intransigence of school management and the failure of the local authority to seek to resolve the dispute and abide by national guidance has led to this situation.”
