More than one in 10 16- to 18-year-olds are not in education, employment or training, the latest official figures show. So-called Neets represented 10.3 per cent of the age group in 2008, up from 9.7 per cent the previous year. The situation is most difficult for 18-year-olds: 16.6 per cent have no job, school or college place, a rise from 14.2 per cent in 2007.
