Draped over a radiator,

I’m drying off.

The morning comes and with it -

The odour of my lover.

Squinting as the sun shines bright through the blinds.

The rain over her is more like a storm,

but no rainbow appears.

She rubs me over her,

like sandpaper on a table top.

Draped over the radiator

to dry off again.

He walks in unaware

of our love affair.

Maharishi School, Ormskirk -the name is intriguing and the work is good. A tremendously lively and varied batch of poems by the pupils of Cliff Yates. In Oliver Brierley’s poem there is a little grammatical problem concerning the participle in line 6. Despite this, I am won over by his originality, and his ability to come up with some memorable images.
