A reminder for headteachers who are keen to get up to speed on new technology: the National College for School Leadership has launched a national programme to give heads a strategic role in leading ICT in their schools. The SLICT initative (strategic leadership of ICT), developed with the college and British Educational Communications and Technology Agency, follows a pilot programme of 20 events for heads around the country. SLICT aims to help heads to use technology to improve school effectiveness; learning, teaching and achievement in ICT. Twenty-four programmes for primary heads and six for secondary heads will run from November 2003 to March 2004 and an increased number from April 2004 to March 2006.
