This was created with a very wide ranging ability group. It has several levels of 'closure' and allows for differentiation and personalised learning for pupils without them feeling either patronised or discriminated against. This type of worksheet is usually produced during a lesson with input from pupils. Pupils choose the words to remove and put into boxes. The sheet can then be copied and differentiated. I often let youngsters decide which level of sheet that they want to do.

Teacher devised assessments for the above qualification. These will need to be modified according to the needs and abilities of your pupils.
They have not been approved by AQA but student work based on them has been successfully entered over a number of years. Please feedback or review as I may be inspired to produce and share a similar set for the new syllabus.
This is a worksheet / test that is used to reinforce learning in physics. It can be used in maths as an example of maths in the real world. The answer sheet can be used on a whiteboard so that groups can swap and mark. It reveals that physics is easy.

This can be used as a self marking homework or as a class white board activity. To use as a class activity the sheet can be printed and pupils complete. They can then be asked to come to the white board to put in one of their answers and have it checked. They can then mark their own as they appear.Errors can be discussed.
To give as homework files from a shared area change the .xls extension to .xlt
This can be used as a homework (paper) and then students enter their results on to the same file opened on a whiteboard, they can mark each others or their own. This has proved to be very motivating.
I suggest that you change the .xls extension to .xlt before use. As an xlt it can be placed on a VLE as a self marking exercise for revision or differentiation by task. Please rate and comment if useful.

7K Have the class blow up balloons and let them go.
Ask, 'Why do they zoom around'. Discus and end up with a diagram of balloon cross section with pressure arrows on the board. These 'close' sheets are differentiated at 4 levels. They are motivating and well received by pupils.
This sheet can be used as part of an IEP in science. It is suitable for mainstream and special needs at every level including gifted and talented. It lends itself to differential planning for specific pupils. I use it to inform support assistants and students about what is expected. They can then contribute ideas and comments in the relevant places. This is AFL formalized and can be a powerful tool for individualized teaching and learning.
I suggest that you change the file extension from .doc to .dot to convert this into a template.

A simple cloze type sheet to reinforce use of the words conduction, convection, radiation. Above L2 but pushes the boundaries for L1-2 pupils. Useful for specific pupils as a differentiated task.
This is a cloze worksheet at two levels. Youngsters usually find this very motivating as it facilitates achievement. The sheets could easily and quickly be further modified to give further differentiated versions.
