These presentations form part of a SOW on music history. I use music from each era every week to take students through the different musical periods. They also have an opportunity to play some music on the keyboard.

I use this SOW for year 8 but it could be adapted for other year groups also. I have included the work for lesson 1; the remaining sessions focusing on learning to play music, on whichever instruments your classes feel confident on.

<p>This sheet contains 8 mark answers for 2 possible questions on Haydn’s ‘The Clock’ symphony movement 2, to help students revise the key points needed for section B of the written paper. I have tried to cover all the musical elements in these answers, and to show that many similar points can simply be revised and edited for different questions.</p>

<p>This is a booklet I made with all the music I use for KS3. It is differentiated for more able musicians. I particularly use this in my SOW on Staff Notation and Music Through Time, also uploaded here.</p>

This SOW is based on 5 lessons, but could be extended if need be. It is based on using narrative poems in drama, first with physical drama, then with shadow puppets. Each group in a class is given a poem to work on, culminating in a shadow puppet performance in the last lesson. Some poems may not have enough characters who are referred to in the text itself (The Raven, for example), but the students usually use their imagination to incorporate ghosts or other creatures into the story! <br /> <br /> The poems included are as follows:<br /> Cinderella - Roald Dahl (for a whole class task in the first lesson)<br /> The Raven - Edgar Allen Poe<br /> Little Red Riding Hood - Roald Dahl<br /> The Jabberwocky - Lewis Carroll<br /> The Walrus and the Carpenter - Lewis Carroll<br /> Goldilocks and the Three Bears - Roald Dahl<br /> Three Little Pigs - Roald Dahl<br /> <br /> Obviously, any narrative poems could be used for this SOW. I chose ones that suited the students at my school but there are many out there that could also be suitable.<br /> <br /> One of the homework tasks asks students to watch a version of the poem their group have been assigned on youtube. These resources focus on teaching KS3 students basic songwriting skills

This is a complete SOW that I used with my Music GCSE class lasting a full term. I have attached all the resources I used, including the music clips for the end of term exam. <br /> <br /> The SOW covers all four topics within this AoS, incorporating all three components of the course. The students will learn about music from the Western Classical Tradition up to 1910 through listening to music, composing in the styles heard and performing music of this period.<br /> <br /> A few notes on lessons involving sheet music:<br /> -The lessons referring to learning Haydn's 'The Clock' used the sheet music on the AQA website. <br /> -For the lesson on 'Unto us a child is born' I did not like to attach the music in case I breached copyright, but I found it on Google by searching 'Unto us a son is born Handel'. I found using a couple of pages only was enough for the tasks.<br /> -The lessons on the piano music of Chopin and Schumann refer to four pieces by them for the students to practice. Again, I did not like to attach them here but I found them in piano teaching book series' such as John Schaum and John Thompson.<br /> <br /> -For the Facebook profile tasks for the last topic I found the page templates on TES.<br /> <br /> If there are any problems with any of these files please contact me and I will resolve them as best I can.

A worksheet on the battle for Stalingrad during World War Two with possible activities.

This is a KS3 scheme of work focussed around the assassination of JFK and to what extent the Warren Commission's judgements were sound. I used this as a Year 9 module and the assessment planning I used is included. This resource includes crib sheets and planning for the assessment and various worksheets to allow pupils to assess the evidence.

These resources are used to teach students about protest music. The power points refer to the first 2 lessons and there is a starter for the whole unit.

This is a full SOW that I use with Y8, but in the past I have used it with Y9 also.<br /> <br /> The SOW outline is uploaded here, with 3 pieces of musical theatre music, 4 pieces of film music and the two presentations on musical theatre and film music to be used for lessons 1 and 3 respectively. <br /> <br /> I have uploaded both Sibelius and PDF versions of all the pieces of music. The pieces of music are all arranged in C major, with the number of accidentals and the varying rhythms in the music giving an option of various difficulties for students to choose from. <br /> <br /> The presentations are in the form of Prezis but they have been downloaded in a format that can be opened without the software being downloaded. All that is needed is an internet connection as the presentation has YouTube clips embedded in it. I have used the presentations this term and the links were all still active and up to date. However if there is a problem when you come to open these two files please contact me and I will try to resolve it.

<p>This SOW is aimed at Y8 and teaches students about soundscapes and singing. I have used the Perpetuum Jazille version of Toto’s ‘Africa’ to teach the students about singing. This version can be found on Youtube.</p>

This is a SOW aimed at year 7 on graphic scores. The booklet contains all the activities needed throughout the unit, from the introductory lessons through to the haunted house assessment.

The attachment contains two sheets, one for component 2 (performing) and one for component 3 (composing). The sheets aim to present the mark schemes in a way the students can access, whilst giving the option of a simplified form of marking for teachers. This can also be used for peer assessment of each others' compositions and performances.<br /> <br /> The marking format involves giving the students an effort grade of outstanding, good, disappointing or unacceptable, an overall mark based on the assessment criteria, a space for a WWW and EBI comment, and a space for the student to respond to the marks given and to give themselves a target.

A presentation and activity to be used in teaching students to compose in a samba style. I have used this with GCSE students previously.
