<p>Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet is a great book about a Muslim boy with a huge imagination. There are 5 weeks worth of planning, including worksheets and powerpoint slides. The lessons contain lots of vocabulary, videos explaining Ramadan, the Mosque, prayers, Eid and much more! The lessons and worksheets cover lots of inference, retrieval, prediction, summaries and vocabulary activities. Lesson 2 has a quiz covering what has been read so far in both PDF and word so it can be edited. Answers are on the slides. There are also two summaries to compare and discuss what makes a good summary. There is also echo reading to teach reading with expression. Lesson 3 teaches prayer names and times through a vocabulary cut, match and stick task and has videos about Ramadan and The Mosque. Week 3 has 3 lessons as it was World Book Day that week. Week 4 discusses the two Eids using a video from Newsround along with other vocabulary and retrieval questions, firstly as a class task and then, the following lesson, as a worksheet. Week 5 has no book tasks but has lots of vocabulary discussion and reading. All slides and worksheets have pictures and they are all adaptable.</p>

Each week has a Powerpoint clearly marking each day’s lesson and each week also has two book tasks with attractively presented worksheets and two non-book tasks. Lessons over the 4 weeks include, Vocabulary, Prediction, Inference, Retrieval and Summary. The lesson Powerpoints are animated with a pale blue background and contain lots of pictures. Each slide also has a plenary slide to open up discussions about the children’s opinion of the text/book.</p>
