<p>This is based on articles (19th &amp; 21st literary non-fiction) exploring issues surrounding women’s health, fitness &amp; body image. A short SOW containing 4 lessons that takes KS3 students through the reading section of the NEW AQA GCSE English Language Paper 2 “Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives”. Lessons are differentiated by questions, resource and task. There is also a mock paper based on differents extract on the same theme. This worked well with a Year 8 class.</p>

<p>A short SOW covering descriptive writing for lower- and middle-ability Y8 students, though you could easily do this at Primary. The SOW includes some differentiation, a variety of activities, an assessment and post-assessment "Close the Gap" work.</p>

<p>Originally designed for GCSE students, this lovingly crafted unit of work has been used very recently and successfully with more able Year 9 students. Aimed at the more able, and containing plenty of challenging activities and stimulating content, this unit of work focuses on key reading skills. There is ample differentiation, suggested homework, a variety of well-planned and engaging lessons, as well as some fun project-based work. Please note, as per TES guidelines, videos have been removed. The assessments, focused on key extracts, are particularly useful in preparing students for the NEW GCSE English Literature exams.</p>

<p>A unit of work covering some classic poems about childhood and children, preparing KS2 or KS3 students to study poetry. It builds from basics, studying structure and techniques, to work towards an assessment on Heaney’s classic “Mid Term Break”. This was originally taught to middle ability Y7 students.</p>

<p>A series of easy-to-follow, repeatable revision lessons. Each lesson includes a bell task, preparatory activity, planning task, exam question &amp; revision task that can be done in-class or as home learning. There are 3 lessons each on A Christmas Carol, Romeo and Juliet, and the Power and Conflict cluster of poetry.</p>

<p>A SOW for KS3 based on Adventure Stories, focusing on basic literacy skills: sentences, spelling, punctuation, grammar. The unit looks at different key skills. This is particularly suitable for students with weak literacy skills, and perhaps useful for KS2. I’ve used it successfully for KS3 intervention. Video clips are suggested but not included.</p>

<p>A SOW used successfully with Y8 based around the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to tackle the NEW GCSE English Language Paper 1. A mock Paper 1(and a mock English Literature exam are included. Links to videos are provided, rather than the videos themselves. There is some differentiation, but this would suit middle ability pupils. Copies of the Private Peaceful novel (or a copy of the film) are required.</p>
