This assessment is based on a children's version of The Speckled Band we have used for a very low ability class. It is linked to APP Reading Assessment Foci and is in a format which is easy to follow for pupils who find English a challenge.
A PowerPoint which take students through step by step preparation for a controlled assessment. It is aimed at a top set for 100 minute lessons so may need adapting for 60 minute lessons.
I am planning to use this with my GCSE re-sit class in 6th form the day before the exam. It covers the skills, questions types for foundation level and has some mini-tasks built in.
