Manchester Power Point: Intended to introduce/teach the Topic: Manchester and the UK (Geography/Knowledge and Understanding of the World). Can be used in the EYFS to promote speaking and listening opportunities. For example, using solely the photo’s can generate lots of opportunities to find out what the children already know/if they know what these places are called/if they’ve visited these places. Can be used in KS1 to encourage the children to remember facts about important places in Manchester, they could then go on to do further research themselves or present what they remember. At KS2 the children could write their own guides on Manchester or a persuasive leaflet. Includes Photo’s and brief facts about: Piccadilly gardens, St Peter’s Square, St Anne’s Square, Albert Square, Market Street, The Trafford Centre.
