Winter in Oz - KS1 or KS2 Play Script (Nativity/Christmas Performance Alternative)

(0)

This is the play script I wrote for our winter/Christmas performance with Year 1 and 2 pupils. It is based on a follow up story to The Wizard of Oz and follows the journey of Dorothy Gale’s granddaughter, Ruby, who is sent back to Oz to learn the importance of love, compassion and friendship.

The play can be added to or scaled back to suit all primary ages but not suitable for EYFS unless narrated by adults. It supported our efforts to raise donations for refugees in the real world as the story chronicles Ruby’s realisation that giving to others is just as good as receiving .

The script features suggested roles, ideas for costumes, links to songs/lyrics and the full wording of the play which is written in a rhyming style to help pupils remember and learn their lines.
