Four resources, helping children identify and explain metaphors in Emily Dickinson's poetry.<br /> Suitable for Year 5 and 6.<br /> For less able learners, The Mountain. Children identify three metaphors, and draw them. They can explain what effect the metaphors have for describing the mountain.<br /> For more able learners, three poems with PEE questions. <p>Inspired by the artist Patrick Heron<br /> This resource is to support a short unit on painting, which will focus on natural forms in the South American landscape.<br /> In this session children (UKS2) will focus on creating semi-abstract images inspired by unusual views of our natural world.<br /> The resource also suggests some technical advice to enable children to start to paint in Patrick Heron’s style</p>

A short resource, differentiated to three levels, which challenges children to compare percentages of amounts.<br /> Number sense is challenged, as the comparisons have some sort of direct relationship. Encourages children to use their knowledge of fraction, percentage, place value.<br /> - Boxes are given for children to explain their reasons behind their decisions.<br /> - Blanks are left for children to complete their own comparisons.

- Contains a starter activity in which three different sorts of maps are compared for their different audiences and uses<br /> - Powerpoint outlines the lesson plan and activities. This is a scheme of work based on Romeo and Juliet for UKS2.<br /> It was written with a split 5 / 6 class in mind, but would easily transfer to either year group.<br /> The unit focuses on performance and descriptive writing.<br /> Also included are powerpoint presentations for many of the lessons.<br /> <br /> This works best with a subscription to Discovery Education for their videos of a production of Romeo and Juliet, but any video of the performance would work as well, to fill the gaps between the parts of the play read in the unit of work.

<p>Building mastery in multiplication.<br /> This resource aims to help children see that not all multiplication needs to be solved with a written method - or even short multiplication method.<br /> A worksheet for all Year 6 abilities. Self-differentiating.<br /> Pupils choose whether they can do a calculation mentally, or need a written method. They then choose their own method with which to solve the problem.<br /> Factors, multiples, associated number facts, partitioning, rounding, compensation are all possible strategies.</p> <p>Answers included.</p>

<p>This resource can run as a whole lesson for UKS2 children.<br /> It is designed to work from tablets, using the QR reading-function to link to websites for quick access.<br /> The resource encourages to consider their responses to big questions about equality, happiness and necessity. Children work in small groups on timed activities to ask big questions, give their personal responses, reflect on their priorities, and see the reality of life around the world.<br /> Can work as part of a Global Day in school, or as a carouselled activity for P4C.</p>
