Aim is to dis-spell some myths/prejudice and explore the concept of Jihad in the classroom.

Lesson used to explore key concepts etc. before introduction to Plato and Aristotle. Thanks to the internet for associated readings (see links). Includes a student worksheet based on the Cornell note taking strategies and teacher notes. Purpose is to use philosophical discussion and reasoning to draw out knowledge and understanding. You will need a chair. This has been influenced by 'The IF Book&'. A great tool for philosophical inquiry with all age groups!

An interesting approach to equality - exploring the examples of the Sikh warrior princess Mai Bhago and the ancient warrior art form of Shastar Vidiya. For anyone unfamiliar with Mario, the green mushrooms signify 'lives'. I allow the class to discuss ideas etc. in a whisper with their neighbour but if the noise level increases or they are off task they lose a 'life'. Three lives lost leads to silent working.
I've uploaded sound files too but unfortunately most of them aren't 'recognised'. Some people have had success downloading the PP with sound intactso finger's crossed.

Overview, self and teacher assessment, self-reflection document. I designed it to help me to keep a tight reign on the programme of study (I have a tendency to spend too long on this topic!) and to encourage my students to take more of an active role in their progress and learning. I'm hoping it will also help to encourage an open learning environment by encouraging the sharing of misconceptions etc.
Designed for high-achieving year eleven class for OCR 'Religion and Science. Can also be adapted for medical ethics. I have also presented it as a 'prezi' presentation to allow for independence or cover lesson. The 4thoughts are excellent and are great for encouraging debate and discussion. The essays produced by my class were outstanding. All comments happily received!
Designed to be a fun and motivating tool to encourage good behaviour and achievement of key skills such as punctuality. This particular design is for a new year seven form but this can easily be adapted to suit other groups. Introductory lesson that explores the key Christian beliefs about God. Designed for high ability group and OCR Religious Studies: Option B. Requires teacher to lead discussion. Activity can be peer assessed.
