This resource is a reading comprehension booklet that uses the text Operation Gadgetman as a text to answer higher level questions focused on comprehension, language choice and vocabulary. The booklet is aimed at UKS2 and is based on the well researched and highly effective recommendations in Doug Lemov’s Reading Reconsidered approach. The booklet covers all chapters in the book and each unit is designed to be led through whole class work which leads onto paired and individual work. The class reads the chapter together (ideally after reading the whole book as a class for pleasure) and then the teacher guides the children through the questions, using discussion to edit and improve their answers.

This a is read and respond book using Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels by Luke Hayes (children’s version). It covers each chapter, using VIPERS style questions to explore the book, giving children a space to record their answer. The booklet is in both PDF and word format. This would be suitable for year 6/7 children or possibly older children who need more support by reading a simplified version of this classic. Please note for obvious copywrite reasons, the text is not included, only questions related to the text.
