Introducing the reactions of metals and how they have been used to devise the reactivity series. Methods of extraction are not included because I have given them a whole separate lesson. This lesson is 100 min long. The circus of activities is used to pupils can work at their own pace developing their independence. The Success criteria is in a 1-9 system linked to SOLO for the skill area in each criteria.

Our pupils self-assessed their abilities against a pupil speak specification. Then attempted the learning mat, focusing on the their areas of weakness. Some completed all the mat to check they really did understand the concepts from the specification. These are based on the Unit c Chemistry AQA.
