Our theme this term has been Harry Potter and I wanted to use a persuasive letter to show children the purposes of writing to persuade. I wrote a letter from Harry Potter to persuade Hogwarts to give him a place at the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This example text is perfect to use to show good examples of persuasive writing. I used this with my Year 5 class.

This is an example newspaper article that can be used for Year 5/6 pupils. This resource works well with Talk4Writing. The text is full with fronted adverbials, parenthesis, quotes and a great structure!

This is a story with a warning. I wrote this for my Year 4 class who needed to work on fronted adverbials, speech and relative clauses. I wrote this resource as an example text and it was linked to my Lights, Camera, Action theme.

This resource is a booklet that I put together for my Year 5 class. The booklet is aimed at meeting the Year 5 Science objective: Living things and their habitat: I can describe the differences in the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect and a bird. The photos and diagrams I did not create myself but the questions, layout and booklet, I did.

This is a lesson with two activities that I created to meet the Year 5 objective: I can use the properties of rectangles to find missing lengths and angles. The lesson consists of a Have a go and a Challenge.

This is a series of lesson plans meeting the Year 4 objectives of teeth and digestion. The planning includes a really exciting lesson where the children actually make poo! My Year 4 class, last year, absolutely loved this lesson and they really remembered all of the names of the digestive system afterwards. The list of equipment you need is included in the planning (nothing unusual) and I asked the dinner ladies at our school to keep any leftovers from that day in a bucket to be able to make the poo with. There are also worksheets attached for some written evidence about teeth too. There is also the plan for an experiment to show tooth decay - I did this by putting eggs into different liquids that the children chose - the worksheet for the children to predict and plan this is also attached.

This is a Year 5 unit consisting of four lessons around addition and subtraction. Lesson One focuses on: I can add and subtract 4 digit numbers mentally. Lesson Two and Three focus on: I can add and subtract numbers with more than four digit numbers using column methods Lesson Four focuses on: I can solve multi step problems using addition and subtraction

This is a series of three lessons I used with my Year 5 Class that focuses on comparing and contrasting Islam and Christianity beliefs on life after death. This also includes the sections from the bible and Qur'an to teach from.

This is a short Year 5 unit on Pattern Sniffing. The activities will meet the objective: I can count forwards and backwards in tens, hundreds and thousands from any positive number up to 1000000. The unit includes two parts. Part one focuses on counting forwards and part two backwards. Each part has a Have a Go, Challenge and Prove it activity.

I made these for the Year 6s in my school to use independently when writing. I gave every child in the class a laminated version so that they could tick off the objectives for writing as they used them. It has been such a great help to support their writing and with the examples of each objective there too, it has made it easy for them to remember what each aspect means.

This unit is about Multiplication and Division. It was created to meet the Year 5 Multiplication and Division objectives. The unit is split into 3 sections. Part One focuses on: I can multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000 Part Two focuses on: I can use long multiplication Part Three focuses on: I can use short division Each part has a Have a go, Challenge and Prove it activity.

This is a booklet I put together for my Year 5 class around blogging. The ICT objective that this was created for is: To communicate: I can share ideas and express opinions (blogging). The children absolutely loved doing this and really got stuck in!

This is a resource that I put together as a launch lesson on volcanoes. The children used the iPads in school to research about volcanos and then answered these questions. To investigate patterns and cycles: I can understand the causes and consequences of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

I used this with my Year 4 class when we were learning about Haikus. Our theme was Lights, Camera, Action so I linked them to this.
