Here is a fun PowerPoint presentation created for the very first French lesson of the school year for S1 , S2 and S3 classes. This powerpoint will give you a chance to start the year in a fun and useful way, explaining why our subject is SO important !

On this powerpoint, you will find :

1. An indroduction part for the teacher and his pupils. (It is supposed to be a game : the teacher write down single words on the board and the pupils are supposed to guess in French what they mean about him - The slide is basically the answers of it).
2. Slides to set up the rules within the classroom. (Ask them first if they can tell you what would be the perfect learning environment for them. At the end of this part, if you have printed out the slides before the lesson, make each pupil sign it as an agreement for you to display on the classroom walls. It will be a good way to remind them they all agreed to these rules during the school year).
**3. A reflection on why is it important to learn a foreign language. **
4. A fun Quiz to explain them with clear figures and facts why all we said above is true ! **
**5. If time allows it, find on youtube a video of those celebrities speaking in French to show them that it’s possible to learn it in school and become proficient in the language later ! **

A lot of the information in the presentation is written in English as the aim of the lesson is really to make them understand the importance of our subject and to set up a first good contact with the teacher. By doing it half in French and half in English, you avoid to face some blockages (from previous years) from reluctant students.
