This is a resource to help you teach ‘The Red Room’ to a mixed ability class. There are differentiated reading and writing tasks, focusing on literacy, analysis and creativity. This worked well when teaching my Year 8 class, with students of reading ages spanning from 7-15.

Here are two resources that can be used to help students prepare for the unseen poetry section of the AQA English Literature paper. The first is an analysis of the poem ‘A Birthday’, by Christina Rosetti. The second is a comparion of ‘The End of Love’ and ‘First Frost’.

These Powerpoints will guide you through teaching the whole of ‘Of Mice and Men’. The tasks include: discussion language analysis differentiated tasks finding and using textual evidence exploring context drama and role play creative writing AQA English Language section B style tasks I had real success teaching this (I only sell tried and tested resources). The students engaged with the issues and found the tasks challenging but well scaffolded as necessary. I taught this to mixed ability Year 9, but it could work for any KS3 group. You literally will not need to produce/plan anything for six weeks or more if you buy this. I spent days making these, then tweaking them as I taught the lessons, so they are good quality (I have been teaching for 16 years) and ready to use.
