La Famille Jolineau en vacances is a bilingual fun story book for primary school children, usable from KS1, ideal for lessons about summer holidays. In the first part of the book, children can learn about family members; which activities/ leisure each member likes doing; saying names and age. After this introductory part, the book follows the family on holiday in Brittany, spending the day on the beach. This can be used as part of lessons on family, holidays and likes and dislikes. There is a cultural focus on le goûter ( the special after school French snack!) and activities at the back of the book on colours and days of the week. A section on silent consonants is an additional useful tool. Throughout the book, a little ladybird is asking questions to encourage active reading. Further , the silent consonants are marked in red.

This is a powerpoint presentation to introduce comment ça va with just three possible answers: tres bien, mal and comme-ci, comme ça. It uses various pictures of animals/ a baby looking happy or sad with repetition of the question asked by little aliens. I have used a presentation by Jules Morris from the Tes website for the graphics for which I thank him.

<p>This is a Power point presentation ( with notes) which explains how days of the week are related to planets. It encourages children to link each planet to a particular day.</p> <p>It includes a recap at the end where children must link days of the week in English to the French equivalent.<br /> It also includes a link to a song by Alain le Laits to practise further.</p>

Key aspects of Easter for the children, the Egg Hunt, the legend of the Cloches; games to count the eggs in the basket; finding colourful eggs in different images. Opportunities to revise days of the week and colours. Activity to encourage children to memorise key vocabulary.

A simple presentation to introduce: j'ai faim. Also adding, je voudrais ( I would like) , s'il vous plait ( please) and merci beaucoup. The main focus in terms of food vocabulary is on some fruit( apple; pear; banana and strawberries); cake, biscuit , pain au chocolate, croissant and bread. This follows on my presentation on le goûter.

Thought his quiz, the children will learn some interesting facts about France and the French language, from the height of the Eiffel Tower, through how many people live in French or how many countries have French as their first language. For the more difficult questions , the quiz suggests possible answers to choose from.

<p>A powerpoint presentation describing the weather in winter and winter clothes. Each slide includes a lot of colours to revise colours as well. The presentation covers coat, hat, gloves, scarf and boots. There is a little activity at the end to join pictures and words, to recap on new vocabulary.</p>

This is a short presentation on le goûter, explaining that this is a traditional snack that children eat after school. An opportunity to explain differences between school hours in France and England and also between meal times. Ie French kids eat later and therefore need a bigger snack after school to last until dinner. I have selected some of the food the French kids may eat. So overall, a bit of culture and vocabulary building. I also introduced please and thank you. I did another related , wider presentation on food to introduce &quot; j'ai fail&quot;, je voudrais..; s'il vous plaît; merci beaucoup.

<p><strong>Simple presentation about Christmas.</strong></p> <p>Key vocabulary including Father Christmas, Christmas tree, baubles, star, presents.<br /> It includes a couple of French traditions like children putting their shoes at bottom of the tree for their presents and celebrating Christmas eve more frequently.<br /> It includes a couple of opportunities to revise some colours and a few slides can be used to revise counting eg counting the baubles.</p>

Powerpoint on months of the year with for each month some focus on weather, season, particular events ( e.g. 14 juillet; la rentrée) /festivals( Noël; Pâques) to engage the children and help with memorisation. Each slide includes some suggestions to encourage children's participation.

A colourful presentation to engage the children in counting up to ten in French. They have to say as quickly as possible the number of animals on each slide. At the end, they will be counting ten ladybirds appearing gradually on the screen. Each number appears as a numerical and a written number. This should help children to develop the ability to recognise numbers out of sequence.
