Instructions for the children to read explain how to use this powerpoint which is a fun way of children spelling words from Phase 4 of Letters and Sounds.
A short story that can be used for phoneme spotting. The children highlight the different /ai/ sounds/spellings. They could use this as the basis for sorting words with the /ai/ sound and drawing conclusions about the spelling pattern.

Introduction to animals that might be seen on a farm and prompt to encourage children to put forward questions about what they would like to learn about farms and animals on farms.

Writing frames: Four dinosaurs with speech bubbles. I use as a focused writing activity after modelling how to write a sentence with the class and most children generally want to do them independently as welll.
I found this a useful but different way for the children to apply their knowledge of odd and even numbers. It could be easily adapted to extend or reduce the number range.

Stimulus for discussion about types of bears, looking for similarities and differences between different types (and also between real and toy bears).

Powerpoint with images of people in a variety of jobs. I have used this to help children develop an awareness of the range of jobs/careers available and with a literacy focus in conjunction with the Colin McNaughton poem ‘When I grow up”.

Powerpoint showing main features of a church. I have used this to introduce children to the things they may expect to see on our visit to a church.

This book is given to children who are joining our Reception class. It provides the children and their families with an idea of what it will be like in school. It should appear in Sassoon Font. Apologies if it has defaulted to another font when you open it. Hopefully it will give you some ideas/base to work from and develop your own.

Images of animals (in powerpoint) which can be printed to provide a stimulus for children to look at patterns in nature. You could also print off to make cards for sorting animals, playing snap etc.

A simple powerpoint showing pictures of landscape features. I have used it to prompt discussion for map making. eg what can you include on the pirates treasure map? Also just to develop vocabulary and understanding with younger children.
Sorry if the font defaults to one with a non child friendly 'a'.
