It needs to be printed & bound (A3 colour preferably) and given to each student.

A Set of Mindfulness Posters showing each of the 34 topics to be covered. Each weekly topic should be printed in colour, laminated and put up at the front of the classroom as a prompt.

A Set of Journal Worksheets. Again, these need to be printed in colour, bound and distributed to each student as a working journal enabling them to reflect on each topic as it covered.

A Term of Mindfulness Lesson Plans (covering the first 13 weeks of the academic year following the SoW)

Re: The included Mindfulness lesson plans (covers the first 13 weeks just to get you started)- they are targeted at E3/L1 learners. The focus age is 16-18 year young people with SEBD but could be taught to older high school students. The lesson plans included provide ideas on how you could implement the topics mindfully… but feel free to deviate from this and incorporate your own ideas/approaches with different resources (and please contact me if something in particular has worked really well) :)

Learning objectives, differentiation, practical tips, etc are all stated on the lesson plans. The only thing is, I have incorporated into the lesson plans some powerpoint slideshows, worksheets and other learning materials that i have not necessarily produced myself (and therefore do not own the right to freely distribute). Therefore I cannot upload the titles/names of the materials and the websites where they can be downloaded from, ensuring authors are credited & reviewed appropriately for their hard work. Still, the plans included willgive you a template to go off as to how to deliver these mindfulness topics. Hope they are helpful! Thanks, SGH

Fantasy Football Maths KS2-KS3/Entry 2-3 Project Pack for embedding Number & Data via Football

This is a resource pack that I have developed for my Step-Up Sports students. They are football mad and not many of the lads are particularly keen on Maths. Hence, I’ve got them all to create a Fantasy Football team and join the league I’ve set up for the class. Little do they know they are going to be covertly working on their number and data skills throughout the year. I’ve included a pdf and word version (editable) of all the materials here. Feel free to tweak all of them to fit the needs of your own students. I have aimed this Maths resource primarily at Entry Level 3 (upper KS2- lower KS3) but it does touch on Level 1, with the mean/range and decimal questions. The students will have to do quite a bit of problem-solving online using the Premier League Fantasy Football website or app. As the teacher you will have to be comfortable with delivering this (being a Footie fan helps) and familiarise yourself with the Fantasy Football League website somewhat in order to guide the students in terms of how to locate the stats they need for their team. The Maths questions worksheet will only really come into its own once you’ve got a league set up and each student has his/her own team. Also included - A team review sheet to help the students quickly access an overview of their player’s performances, and a Player-by-Player stats sheet to assist with answering the questions on the Maths worksheet. Students can also be encouraged to produce a table over the course of the season to track their team’s results - the tracker begins at Game Week 5, as the academic year starts around this time (first four game weeks take place in August when we’re still enjoying our hols) . The table resource, once again, embeds the data aspect of Entry Level Maths. Good luck with implementing these materials. I hope you manage to have some fun with the activities.

Wellbeing Journal - Full Academic Year

I created this original Wellbeing Journal to structure a Wellness Curriculum that I am delivering to my 16-25 year-old college groups. The journal follows-on from the highly popular Mindfulness Curriculum that I produced seven years ago pre-pandemic. I feel that times have changed though, hence - this offering. It is organised in a way that displays one session (or page) per topic - so the idea is that you’d deliver one topic per week over the course of the full college year. That said, the resource could also be incorporated with older school groups too. In terms of level, I have pitched the booklet at around Entry Level 3. It will present enough challenge for Level 1’s too. The journal presents what I believe to be very important learning matter for young people in today’s society. It is a manual, if you like, on how to develop the coping skills needed in this fast-paced, high-stress modern world.

Please note - although I have devised the booklet for your use / printing, etc, I do not own the accompanying meditations or accompanying resources that I bring into these sessions. For instance, there are videos and pdfs on the MIND website that I draw upon that I do not claim to be under my authorship. Where possible though, I will do my best to signpost you to the external links where I found the worksheets / videos / meditations, etc so that you can access these also. A pdf of the resource links is also attached.

I hope that your students find the Wellbeing Journal engaging and beneficial. I recommend getting the pdf printed as a colour booklet 2-sided and bound.

I have uploaded this resource for free… but if you do get great benefit from it and you find it’s saved you a ton of time then you can always buy me a cup of coffee via my social enterprise link. You’re not obliged to do this by any means - just leaving some positive feedback will be thanks enough. Best wishes, Simon

This resource is ideal for distance learning and challenges the student to research an ideal getaway location using Google Earth. It is the perfect antidote to 2020! The task relies on the student having some knowledge / experience of using Google Earth. It is pitched at E3 / L1. Could be used with older secondary or post-16 students.

E3 - L1 Maths: PS4 vs XBox vs Switch - Cost Comparison Challenge

I devised this little Maths resource as there are a couple of young people in one of the groups I take who are seemingly only interested in computer games. I thought this might pique their interest and get them adding / subtracting without realising it.

The resource has a main pdf reference sheet that features the prices of computer games for the 3 different consoles. There are 9 games listed for each console. You could start the activity by asking the question… '“So, I’m thinking of getting a computer console… which one is the best value?”. Students are encouraged to write down the cost for each game, work out the saving from the reduced price shown, and then calculate the overall total for the 9 games per console. They have to answer 10 subsequent questions on page 2 of the worksheet, which introduce more Level 1 aspects such as range and mean.
