Poem on a page cover all of the AOs for the English Lit AS Level Unit 2 poetry study. The idea is that pupils research and fill in the sections on the page so they have a full page of notes for each poem they are allocated. These notes were then taken and photocopied for the rest of the group. Included here are some of the poems that I distributed by Larkin and Duffy.

A lesson on writing a speech giving views on corporal punishment. Used after reading the chapter in Boy where Roald Dahl is caned. Includes an extract from the book, a writing plan for pupils to plan their speech, a WAGOLL and some peer/self assessment.

A step by step template to write a basic paragraph for an essay on Duffy’s Before you were Mine. AS Level pupils used this as a stepping stone to understanding what goes in a paragraph and how they can start to analyse quotations in detail. I have given pupils two WAGOLL paragraphs written using the template, and then given them 3 template paragraphs to fill in themselves. Works really well to support essay writing and quotation analysis at the beginning of the AS course.
