Neurons and synaptic transmission

This resource explains neurons and synaptic transmission and includes reference to excitation, inhibition and summation. It is designed for independent learning and comes complete with links to websites for further viewing/reading. It goes through the structure and function of different neurons, the processes and structures involved in synaptic transmission, and a detailed explanation of neurotransmitters, including excitation/inhibition. It is designed for psychology students who may not be as confident with biopsychology as biology students would be so for this reason, the more technical aspects of synaptic transmission (e.g. reference to depolarisation, calcium and sodium concentrations etc) have been omitted.
