This begins with a quick recap on the causes of the war to bring us up to date as to why the plan was needed. The plan in theory, and the plan in reality. I've included some fill in worksheets I gave out in a lower ability class.

I began by discussing the long standing rivalries and alliances like rival cliques in a school.
This colourful visual aid can be useful to describe the causes like a story.

I did this lesson the day after a lesson on the Civil War. Name cards and scripts were given out to volunteers to act out the trial (we even moved the tables round to look like a court room).
Then we went through each day of the trial and analysed the behaviors of the characters, and whether Charles was getting a fair trial.
The pupils then paired up, numbered 1 and 2, 1s gave a reason for execution, 2s gave a reason against. We chose the strongest argument and gave that person a point. We then had a result of which won - for or against.
Tutorial and activities based on Gorbachev and his relationship with the west. How this relationship lessened tensions and was the beginning of the end of the Cold War.
Activities refer to Edexecel GCSE History A textbook.
Lesson covering simple ideas - family tree, time lines, chronology, BC/AD etc.
Some activities included: wordsearch, matching centuries, creating timelines.
This is a role playing activity in which students are given 10 dollars each and told to invest it where ever they see fit.
Throughout the lesson these shares will increase in value and students can continue to trade at designated points in the lesson. At the end of the lesson the market will crash and the students will will have to see whether they are now a a loss or gain.
Printable shares and money included in slideshow.
A collection of stuff I've used with Year 8 on James I and the Gunpowder Plot topic.
The facebook template is great for collating information in a way the students really enjoy.
And the riddle was something I just had on the board as the pupils entered to grab their focus.
The evidence and table was just a card shorting exercise on A3 paper, and ended with a vote as to whether the plot was a conspiracy or not.
