Ppt version of 'Play Your Cards Right'. Students are given a starting date and then shown another event during WW1. They have to decide whether it is earlier or later than the previous date (previous date shown in left hand corner). An animation then reveals the date of this event. Can be used as a quick starter or can be extended to discuss what happens during this event, etc. A game that can be easily duplicated for other topics, or can be added to.

A trivia based revision game which can be done individually or in groups and can be adapted to suit the abilities/needs of the class. Included are two set of revision questions which are suited to the OCR modules and cover Executive, Legislature, Elections System, Referendums. These questions include 'contemporary examples' that may need updating, but will still be relevant. I have included a blank template for the questions which students could use to create their own questions as an additional revision activity. In my version I printed one set of questions on blue paper, and the other on green (to fit the topic areas) and glued these onto blank playing cards to be more long-lasting, however they could just as easily be printed onto blue / green card. The 'In the news' cards are jokey &quot;chance&quot; style cards which can help or hinder the student playing. Instruction cards are included - you may wish to increase the number of seats won by answering a question correctly if your class is at the beginning of revision or are weaker students.<br /> A dice and counters are required.

Presentation and activity getting students to understand that life did not return to normal after the camps were liberated. Notes attached to each slide to help teacher guide discussion. Linked at the end to modern refugee camps. After this lesson I looked at the events of Pearl Harbour and Japanese Internment Camps to highlight to students that not all camps are concentration camps, and discuss the different purposes.

I have also included the Foreign Policy overview grid which I use at the end of each event to get the students to sum up what happened.</p>

<p>6 activities.</p> <p>Students have to select which 5 cards are false, out of a series of statements. Once students have had a few minutes to note down their answers, the teacher can go through the answers - the slides are animated so that the box turns green for true and red for false. For a quick lesson starter you can just reveal the answer, but for more in-depth revision, you can ask students to expand on the knowledge, or explain why an answer is false / what the correct answer would be.<br /> I have included a selection of topics which can then be easily adapted / duplicated to create more for use regularly in lessons.</p>

Powerpoint covering electoral systems other than First Past the Post. Each slide summarises how the system works , with an example of the voting slip, and then goes on to detail the advantages and disadvantages of each system. Notes included for each slide so that the teacher can talk around the subject confidently.

Looking at how refugees were turned away from sanctuary during the Holocaust, and reactions of the public to refugees in 1938. Links then to modern attitudes to refugees - useful start to a discussion about how we should handle the issue of refugees. Can slot in to Holocaust study or be a stand-alone topic for tutor etc, as long as a small amount of prior knowledge of Holocaust is present

Through presentation providing detailed notes on the policy and impact of Collectivisation. Could be printed out to give to the students and talked through by the teacher - I have provided notes in the notes section underneath, expanding on some of the points.
