Advent Wreath Colouring Sheet Five Candles

(14)
EDIT: Added a Y1 version with space to write. Could not find a version of this anywhere with the 5 candles, so put this together in word! It is actually intended to be cut out and mounted for diplay, so is intentionally simple - but with a bit of tweaking it could be made into more of a worksheet e.g. Chn could add labels to describe the features (evergreen, circle shape, each candle for a different Sunday in Advent, pink for the3rd Sunday etc).

Children divide their page in their books into two, adding titles 'What we might wear in Summer / Winter'. They then cut and stick these pictures onto each side. Some are purposely ambiguous! We will also add word labels and draw some of our own ideas to stretch the more able.

Pictures for printing off, laminating and putting on the wall (practitioners to post-it children's names on as they progress through the stages). Inspired by Mr A B-C :o) I couldn't find these to print anywhere so thought I would put them on TES once I'd put these together! Hope they're of use.

Using these for whole class input to demonstrate key features of this genre - title, 'you will need&', numbered bullet points, bossy language, time words. Intentionally simple as it will be our first try at writing instructions!

You know when you spend ages looking for a particular resource then think sod it, and make your own?! That's how this came about :o) Chn will use unifix first to make towers, talk about the difference / how many more - then show &'jumps&'; on the numberlines on this sheet, for each question. LA Y1 or those new to the (perplexing) idea of 'finding the difference&'. (Note: it is intentional that two questions are the 'same' - to prompt further discussion / aid plenary).

Science Y1 / Y2 - Matching Plants to Seasons

Linking Plants topic to New Curriculum focus on Seasons - lots to discuss as a group / class first (e.g. does holly grow all year? Do you only get strawberries in Summer? etc). Could be carried out each term to add things that have been seen around school grounds on 'plant spotting walks'. More able can add word labels or captions to describe each picture, once they choose a season to stick them in / add their own too. I was looking for something a little different to &'a tree through the seasons&'; so I made this - hope it's of use!

A simple powerpoint for carpet time - group or whole class.

Children use language relating to subtraction to describe their answers / why they think that might be the answer / show it on their fingers etc. A little extension at the end for more able pupils.

*Please note, words are in Comic Sans and numerals are in Lucida Handwriting (due to the number '4' formation being preferable in Lucida font).

A simple sheet intended for children to access in the Reception Class maths area, but could be adult-led for a younger age group or to support Reception children.

Children can use pencils to develop pencil grip or felt tips, chalk or even paint to add eight legs to each spider - this could be useful if enlarged to A3 also.

I share resources for free as I have benefitted from so many from TES over the years, it doesn't feel right to charge for them. I hope this is of use.
