An A4 place value mat which can be printed and laminated so learners can be given a number (single, double or triple digit) and asked to write down the expanded form, 1 more/less, 5 more/less, a visual representation in base ten blocks and the written form. Great to use as a starter activity to assess understanding. This can be differentiated within your class by choosing numbers appropriate to their abilities.

A fun rebus picture puzzle starter activity. There are 40 picture puzzles included in the PowerPoint and Worksheets plus a slide/blank question sheet at the end for you to add your own. I have included a PDF & Word version of the worksheets. This starter always goes down very well with my learners - it can be difficult to stick to just 8 and not go through the full selection! I place copies on the desks for learners who are early to class to keep them occupied.
