Sentence Openers/ Fronted Adverbials

(0)
This lesson looks at a range of sentence openers. The children noted these in their books, giving their own examples. They then used the information from their books to match the sentences to the type of sentence opener. From this, the children wrote their own sentences on what happened next, using a variety of sentence openers as discussed. For example, ‘unfortunately, we had to watch a safety video before we could go onto the trampolines’ ‘Because it was my sisters birthday, she got to jump for free.’ Higher ability children could write a paragraph rather than individual sentences.
