Pupils look at cost effectiveness and sustainability of different ways to protect their own little patch of rainforest whilst their fellow class mates try to deforest it! The pupils write up a detailed evaluation of what worked and where the weaknesses were in their defences against illegal loggers and urbanisation. Lovely activity with vast amount of opportunities for pupils of every ability to access levels 5 upwards easily.

It is an in-depth look at the story of Mr Kishimoto who commutes to Tokyo from Sendai amidst the 2011 disaster. Learners have to piece together several aspects of his story. For SEN this could be the basic facts. MAT pupils could be stretched through discussion of environmental, political, social and economical impacts of the event.
