Fashion Textiles Moodboard Exercises

(7)
I created this presentation to integrate into my lesson based on moodboards. Learners had frequently found inspiration for creating moodboards however had difficulty understanding how they were created. This presentation breaks down the steps of fashion moodboards and gives timed exercises to help learners understand the process to creating unique, creative moodboards. I demonstrated to the class each of the exercises before allowing the learners to begin, this helped learners a lot too! Easily adaptable to breakdown creative work for learners.

Fashion Illustration

Each slide focuses on a different fashion illustrator. Each slide has examples of the illustrator's work, defines their key techniques and their key focus.<br /> These are great for getting learners to explore a wider range of techniques. <br /> Here's how I use them:<br /> Print out.<br /> Place pile face down.<br /> Each learners picks one sheet from the top (can't pick and choose).<br /> Learner is to imitate the style of the illustrator using the same techniques, media and focus, but Learner is to use their OWN design development for the work.<br /> This varies the learners approach to media, style and experimentation.<br /> I have also used them where I number the sheets, relate different numbers and illustrators to certain students i.e. student A takes sheet 3 + 11. This way I can differentiate between the levels of my learners depending on their skill and confidence and can plan their best suited illustrators.

Hand Embroidery Worksheet

(0)
This resource is a worksheet used to recap learners knowledge of hand embroidery stitches. Or it could be used to accompany demonstrations of different stitches and the learners are required to practice through completion of the worksheet. <br /> They are required to apply hand embroidery and techniques to the worksheet, the hand embroidery techniques vary in difficulty allowing for stretch and challenge. <br /> <br /> Some of you may be sceptical about using a paper worksheet for hand embroidery, however the advantage I have found with using paper is A. they develop patience and take their time, being more careful and neat with their work. And B. it's cheaper to use paper initially, allows learners to practice more frequently. Could be used as incentive for them to progress onto using fabric.<br /> <br /> Worksheet is easily adaptable to your requirements/ embroidery stitches.

Certificate of achievement

This is a certificate I created for my 'garment manufacture' lesson. I print off a couple each week, then throughout the lesson I look for super star students that do something nice, or have completed a task correctly. <br /> <br /> I then give out certificates to those I feel deserve one at the end of each lesson, at the end of each term we count which student has the most certificates and they win a small prize (chocolate, small sewing pack, something crafty).<br /> <br /> <br /> As I teach in FE, with my adult groups attendance and punctuality can be quite tricky, however since implementing the reward system, student participation, general respect, class tidiness, attendance and kindness within the group has definitely been boosted!<br /> <br /> You could use for every lesson, or change the wording so that a student wins one per end of term. <br /> <br /> :)

Lesson Instructions

This worksheet is given to all learners at the start of each lesson (content varies each lesson dependent upon exercise/ lesson plan). Learners are able to track their progress throughout the lesson with something to refer to continually. I have found this really useful and has been a key tool for learners to self-assess their progress against the outcomes of the lesson. Learners who become distracted, are late or need further stretch and challenge can be referred to the sheet.
