Note that the poems are not included - rather this guide has detailed analysis to accompany the poems.

Why should I use these flashcards?
Meiosis is a challenging topic for many A level students. Flash cards are an proven and effective learning tool, yet are time-consuming for students to make themselves. To help your students master this topic, I have created a set of flashcards on meiosis that cover the specification requirements for OCR A A level Biology.

These flashcards are a valuable resource that will complement your teaching and enhance student learning of meiosis. Provide these to your students so they have easy access to a resource to fully grasp the important facts.

How do I use these flashcards?
Print the flashcards double-sided, ensuring the paper or card is flipped on the long edge. The grid should line up reasonably well, so you can just cut out the flashcards from this sheet.
Alternatively print each page singe-sided and ask students to glue the corresponding front and back card together (this will take longer but can be done within 5mins!).

When should I use these flashcards?
You could provide students with these:

After the lesson

Before the end-of-topic test

In the revision period before exams

Encourage your students to review frequently - spaced repetition is key!

DNA Structure and Replication Quiz WITH MARK SCHEME

This test contains a comprehensive coverage of DNA structure and replication.

It’s great for use in the classroom after you’ve taught an A level lesson on DNA structure and replication to check how well students have understood the content. It focuses more on understanding the basics of the topic and contains no questions on RNA to allow students to fully digest DNA first.

This document is clearly presented, with space for students to write their answers.

This would be a great resource for learning and revision.

This clear and concise PowerPoint contains questions providing a comprehensive coverage of the OCR A Level Biology content for 6.1 Cellular Control.

It provides questions with clear links to the specification to allow you and your students to be completely assured that you have covered and understood everything needed.

It would be a great resource to make available to students for revision before their A level exams, and could be used in the classroom or at home.

Alternatively it would be great to reinforce knowledge as a white-board activity after completing the topic.
