This was a 3 day English Unit I did with Year 5, based around our class novel Matilda. It includes the key features of a character description, lesson plan, writing and planning frames and a VACE activity I used to assess pupils.

This is a week’s worth of Literacy activities that I used with a Year 4 class, but will be appropriate for Year 3 too. It really helped them to learn about the Romans and how they lived, and helped them to practise their letter writing skills and persuasive writing skills. It includes song lyrics for ‘Just Like a Roman’ which they absolutely LOVED, however beware it will be stuck in your head for weeks! The literacy activities are differentiated.

We were reading Matilda as a class so we decided to link the unit of adverts and persuasive writing to Mr Woomwood’s car business. Includes a lesson plan, presentation with activities (inc lesson starters), features of adverts/persuasive writing and wagoll. Also includes planning and writing frames for pupils to use.

This is a set of two lessons on the Ancient Greeks completed with Year 5, based on Ancient Greek food and masks. There is a presentation about Greek masks and a lesson plan/set of two worksheets to use alongside the food tasting lesson.

I used this with a Year 5 class during a Science lesson about the viscosity of liquids.

This was a stand alone lesson completed with Year 5 about Limericks (following on from another Poetry unit as a comparison). The presentation features some well known Limericks and the key features/rules of a limerick.

After a week of reading and learning about Julia Donaldson stories, we matched the characters to the correct story, constructed oral sentences about our favourite story then wrote a sentence.
