Some resources are provided including model texts, checklists and research. I have used this with Year 6 classes. Lessons can easily be extended or adapted to suit different classes. There are some resources which I used for this unit which I haven’t included (e.g. formal letter examples) but these can easily be found online. I hope this is useful.

Early Morning Activities KS2

(0)
This contains 9 separate Powerpoints created to be used across nine weeks of early morning work for KS2. Encourage your class to start work as soon as they enter the classroom with the variety of activities linked to maths, spelling and grammar. These Powerpoints are designed to be used with the class split into 5 coloured groups - orange, blue, green, purple and red. These activities rotate during the week to ensure that each child undertakes a different activity daily. Use these for an easier start to your morning. Please note most of the activities remain the same for each group, however, maths activities may be slightly more difficult for orange group and slightly easier for purple group. These are easily changed to differentiate further. Like this resource? Look out for Early morning work weeks 10-18.

Party planning KS2

(0)
A simple party planning activity for Key Stage two. This activity encourages children to use their addition, multiplication, subtraction and percentage knowledge. It also requires Literacy skills including designing invites and presenting ideas. Children should work in teams of 3 or 4 to create a party and should use their budget to design the best party possible for ‘their client’. They have to decide on venues, entertainment and much more. These lessons worked well with a Year 5/6 class and encouraged them to work carefully in teams across 2-3 days. It can easily be adapted for lower key stage 2. At the end of the project, children were asked to present their ideas and I (acting as the client) rated each group’s party. Happy Party Planning!
