<p>Used with GCSE pupils to help them approach this question. Helps pupils to explain audience engagement and to structure their answers in an exam. This is a lesson which guides pupils through a structured analysis of audience engagement in one non-fiction text, but shows a method which can be applied to any text. Once pupils get the hang of the method you can gradually help them to get faster by removing some of the steps.</p>

<p>A powerpoint which begins to analyse World War One propaganda, highlighting some of the important language and image features of posters. This is a useful introduction to propaganda and persuasive media text analysis and gets pupils to begin to write to explain how language and images are used to persuade.</p>

<p>It’s a few days before Christmas and Rudolph has been murdered. Pupils must work in groups to interview suspects and analyse evidence to build a case!</p> <p>This has been used with groups of up to 40 KS3 pupils and has also been used in youth clubs. The murder mystery will require some older pupils or staff to play the part of suspects who can be interviewed. The activity should take around 80 minutes, but could be rushed into an hour or allowed to last 100 mins.</p> <p>This has been used as part of a Christmas fun day in school for house competitions but also works very well as a speaking and listening activity.</p>

<p>3 Year 8 Citizenship booklets looking at national identity, unionism, nationalism and diversity in Northern Ireland, human rights and the rights of children, and bullying.</p> <p>Some images have been removed due to copyright, but they have been listed in the booklet and would be easily replaced. The booklets could work well as they are or act as a starting point to edit or to take section from to update your resources. Units of work are included.</p> <p>The three booklets together covered the whole of CItizenship for Year 8.</p>
