These resources support teaching a food-tasting and cooking lesson making pitta breads with year 3/4, linked to Ancient Greece. They could easily be used for other year groups. Works great as part of an Ancient Greece Day, or could be split over two lessons.

What you get:

A smart notebook file with text and images describing pitta bread, feta, grapes, olive oil, olives and honey, describing why they were important to the Ancient Greeks, to use whilst the children are tasting.

A worksheet where they can rate what they eat using various characteristics.

A simple recipe to make pitta bread (I’ve used it many times before)

A print-out text describing the importance of food and how the Ancient Greeks dined.

Pollination/Wild Flower Seed Balls Presentation

(1)

A presentation explaining what pollination is, and why it is so important for our environment and much of the food we eat. Includes colourful pictures and links to two useful videos. I used this successfully with children aged from 4 - 11 years old.

After going through this as a class, we all made flower seed balls - the National Trust have an easy to follow free recipe online.
