A resource which outlines the case study of Detroit for the distant place study in line with the AQA A level geography spec. Includes sections on; endogenous features, timeline, relationships and connections, economic change, social inequalities, meaning and representation, quantitative and qualitative sources. 15 pages, 3260 words.

An activity to help students write part of a 9 mark response to the question ‘For an NEE which you have studied, to what extent are TNCs effective in helping that country to develop’. The intro and 1st paragraph have been completed and students are instructed to pick out evidence for AO1, AO2 and AO3. There is then space for students to complete the 2nd paragraph and conclusion. On the second page of the document there is an optional gap fill to help students who are struggling.

This usually takes me 2 lessons to get through. Introduces key concepts including air pressure, isolation, global atmospheric circulation (hadley cell, ferrel cell and polar cell), pressure belts and surface winds.
