<p>This is an introductory unit that aims to encourage pupils to start using the key concepts and global issues as a way of interpreting texts. It is a stand alone unit that is aimed at engaging pupils and introducing them to the course.</p> <p>This unit lasts between 2-3 weeks and uses a 1970s advert and Childish Gambino’s This is America Music Video as stimulus materials. Pupils will develop their analysis skills and also consider how meaning is constructed in different mediums. There are two assessments that are covered: a presentation and a written essay.</p> <p>I have also attached the cards that I use in lesson - I laminated the global issue, key concepts, AoE and AoE questions prompts so pupils can make reference to them throughout the lesson.</p>

<p>This is a narrative writing lesson for the IGCSE Language Paper 2 (0500). However it is based on the novel ‘A Separate Peace’ to ensure cross curricular teaching during Y10 and Y11. The skills tested are writing skills, but the IGCSE novel has been used as a stimulus. This is part of the teaching of a full scheme of work for ‘A Separate Peace’ and the skills for the Language paper have been embedded within this unit. This could cover 2-3 lessons depeniding on the amount of time given for planning and the writing up of the essay.</p>
