These two packs contain a breakdown of theorists for both families and households and the education unit for the sociology AQA A-level. The family and household pack contains the following: Topic 1: Couples Topic 2: Childhood Topic 3: Theories of the family Topic 4: Demography Topic 5: Changing family patterns Topic 6: Family diversity Topic 7: Families and social policy The education pack contains the following: Topic 1: Class differences in achievement – external factors Topic 2: Class differences in achievement – internal factors Topic 3: Ethnic differences in achievement Topic 4: Gender differences in achievement Topic 5: The role of education in society Topic 6: Educational policy and inequality My students found these packs extremely useful as they give a brief summary of the theorists main views without having to read a page or two to get there head around it (unlike some textbooks) There is also a pack on crime and deviance which I have uploaded separately.

Station Revision Task A-level Sociology

(0)
This lesson equips students taking the AQA AS qualification in sociology. It could be easily adapted for a revision task for year 13 students doing the full a-level qualification also. The lesson focuses on having different ‘stations’ around the room. At each station they are required to complete a different task using each of the assessment objectives. The lesson ends on a reflection of the task enabling students to recognise the skill they most need to work on. I found this really useful for AS revision as it moves away from the standard essay writing or textbook reading revision. I also just changed up the assessment objective weighting (available on the AQA website) and used the same activity for my year 13 students.
