I paired the poems weekly and set 10 questions on each for homework, then asked for links/connections. There are 27 poems covered here - a question slide then answer slide for self marking or however you wish to use it. Links were discussed in class.

KS3 Scheme analysing First World War poetry: Who’s for the Game? - Jessie Pope Base Details - Siegfried Sassoon Dulce Et Decorum Est - Wilfred Owen Objective: To understand how writers use language and structure to achieve effects and influence readers, using relevant subject terminology. Includes power points and hand-outs. Designed to take students on a journey through context, the views of those at home, the detached Majors away from the front to the front itself whilst also touching on the relationship between Sassoon and Owen. Includes a variety of activities - comprehension, creative writing, close analysis of language and structure, self and peer assessment, writing frames, model paragraphs etc. Ends with an assessment on Dulce Et Decorum Est and how it presents the horrors of war. Assessment objectives and criteria are based on the AQA specification.
