The Hate U Give

A few lessons that I have created and used so far as I teach T.H.U.G by Angie Thomas to my Y9 set 1 class.

Would need adapting and more scaffolding for lower sets so keep that in mind.

Feel free to use as you see fit for your own classes

Shakespeare's Language

A fun lesson that demystifies Shakespearean language. I cobbled this lesson together using a glossary I found on-line a while back. I have used this at both KS3 and KS4 prior to starting a SoW on one of his plays. Pupils really engage with the translation tasks and have fun playing around with the language - especially creating their own scene to a Shakespearean play!

Exploring Word Classes

A fun little lesson for lower KS3 that looks at the language in the poem Jebberwock by Lewis Carroll. A number of activities including independent enquiry, pair work and group work. I have included all resources within the PowerPoint as images so they can be printed off as needed. Lesson ends with a fun quiz to consolidate knowledge on word classes. Feel free to adapt according to your students needs.
