This PowerPoint discusses a common GCSE question about Juliet's relationship with her parents. The presentation offer an overview of areas to be discussed, which teachers and students can use to plan a response. It also looks at the context of the play in terms of attitudes to marriage and the role of women in Shakespeare's England. The main body of the presentation presents the key scenes in the original text,along with a parallel paraphrase and key questions to address.

<p>These three exeample responses look at key moments from Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers.’ There is the classroom scene, where Mickey is suspended and the scene where Edward leaves to go to university plus an extract from the scene where he returns from university. These latter two extracts beautifully illustrate the change in Mickey and work well together as a paired exercise.</p>

<p>This is a differentiated worksheet which is intended to help less able students to access the play ‘Macbeth’ and to formulate an essay on how our impression of Shakespeare’s hero starts to change in the early scenes of the play. It could easily be adapted for more able students.</p>
