This assembly was prepared in response to our school's thought for the week. Within it, I was trying to emphasise the importance of non-verbal communication and the power of a smile. My children will kill me for posting this up, as it contains pictures of them smiling! Feel free to delete that bit!

This is something which I have started to use as a technique to assess progress through a lesson or series of lessons. I normally use it as a plenary-type activity, asking students to fill in at least three of the clouds.

This presentation is designed to examine the elements of Christian funeral rites. It includes a couple of suggestions for suitable homework tasks. There is a hyperlink to a YouTube clip of the W.H. Auden poem used in 'Four Weddings & A Funeral'. It concludes with a Diamond 9 activity to individually prioritise the different potential purposes of a Christian funeral.

This was an assembly, based on our school's thought for the week. I wanted to emphasise how the importance of listening has been stressed over the centuries by including a reference to Shelley and Shakepseare, before relating it to the modern-day example of The Light Project, a Christian initiative set up by Chris Duffett, and their promise to listen to anyone. I conclude by outlining the need to listen to those with no voice, linking it to Oxfam and a local homeless charity.

This presentation is aimed at analysing the importance of prayer within Christianity. There are two hyperlinks to YouTube clips, which are useful to exemplify and explain the role of prayer in a Christian's life.

I have started to use these as a method of assessing progress at the end of a lesson. Students need to fill in all six sections: one thing they already knew; two questions they would still like to ask; three things that they have learnt. I have found it beneficial to adapt this template with the subject matter and print off to give out rather than get the students to copy out.

This is the third of four revision sheet for the OCR GCSE Philosophy (Unit B601) Paper 1: The End of Life. It includes key information about Christian beliefs about the concepts of salvation, redemption and the different types of judgement.

It's all in the preparation!! This is a short introduction to the concept of Brain Gym and getting the mind ready to work. Part way through is a centring exercise, the text for which I have included, to be read out to the students with their eyes shut. It did work - honest!

This presentation focus on the question of equality between the sexes as part of the OCR GCSE Philosophy and Applied Ethics as part of module B604. It uses an OECD video talking about equality in the UK, before using Philosophy and Applied Ethics to research key information. There is a homework task, based on two further videos. All three videos are hyper linked in the presentation and included (hopefully) in the resources, here.

As part of the OCR specification, under the heading of Poverty & Wealth, there is an exploration of Christian views on moral and immoral occupations. This presentation is designed to kick off a discussion about the difference between these two concepts.

This lesson features the Anthony Walker case, who was brutally murdered in 2005. It seeks to explore the concept of forgiveness and racism in the UK. The starter focuses on the different covers used for different audiences of the Harry Potter books, to fit the maxim of judging books by their cover.

The starter activity focuses on the dates when various churches in the UK first allowed women to become priests. There is video clip from the BBC Learning Zone on the debate. There is an assessment of World War II to see whether it fits the conditions.
