For the past 8 years, I have been visiting over 160 schools within the UK, delivering presentations on The Holocaust and Antisemitism from a personal viewpoint. I tell my own family story, being the son and grandson of refugees from Nazi Germany. My Great-Grandma survived the camps while my Great Aunt and Uncle perished in Auschwitz. I myself have been the victim of prejudice both at school and in my professional career as a teacher, with over 25 years’ experience.

I feel that my personal experience, background and observations would be invaluable in this respect, especially in the lead-up to Holocaust Memorial Day 2021. I have put together a series of Powerpoint presentations on CD, aimed at different year groups combinations. The advantage with recorded talks is that they can be used at any suitable time during the academic year. The CDs cover all the salient points regarding prejudice, persecution and genocide committed during this period.

Presentations are also available via Zoom.

I am happy to send feedback received from previous schools visited and look forward to hearing back from you.

To be shown after the presentations on The Holocaust(Parts 1-4), to show Jewish celebrities who have either embraced or rejected their faith, or conversely have experienced antisemitism sometime in their life. Several people were second/third generation Jews like myself, whose ancestors escaped from persecution/perished in The Holocaust.

The presentation takes the form of a PowerPoint slideshow featuring illustrative music specifically composed for young people. The main musical material is centred around Saint-Saens’ "Carnival of the Animals’, for which I have selected several descriptive excerpts, complete with pictures to hold the children’s attention while the music plays. I also include music describing a train journey and sleigh ride and the whole presentation provides an excellent introduction to classical music. As a former music teacher, I am very experienced in introducing children to works they will instantly enjoy.

The presentation is not only suitable for extended whole school assemblies but also for individual classes. There are many more musical sessions I can create along similar lines. After all, most children will be familiar with some classical music ringtones!

Step by step detailed analysis of slow movement and last part of Finale from this popular American symphony. Will assist students in structuring themes/melodies in their compositions.

Having been a Judaism and Holocaust educator for over 8 years(and a teacher for 25 years), I am currently offering online presentations/recorded CDs on the subject. These have all been devised for separate year group combinations and are suitable forthe study of History, RE & Citizenship in Primary and Secondary schools.

This introductory video outlines and previews my presentations, which can be accessed via Zoom, Teams or CD.
