A little code puzzle - where students have to first substitute numbers into expressions (medium difficulty - requires knowledge of BODMAS). This then generates a list of numbers which can then be converted into a hidden sentence using an alphabet converter, Finally the hidden question is revealed. A good introductory tarsia puzzle for finding probabilities for normal distributions. Questions in the form: X = N(2, 3^2), find P(X greater than 2.5) etc.

Adapted from the excellent resources from Laura Rees Hughes, this is a maths CSI puzzle based on GCSE number - upper bounds, compound percentages, speed conversions and rational numbers. Give each group the sheets - and they need to eliminate the suspects to find the robber.
