This is a resource pack of 3 work booklets for English teachers. Each work book contains 5 lessons/sessions worth of work that will last students a whole week. This is suitable for MA-HA students. It was made for Y10s but can used or adapted for younger pupils. In each work book there is a range of up to 7 activities covering the full range of English Language Paper 2 skills: Retrieval, Comparison, Summarising Differences, Synthesis, Analysing Language, Comparing Viewpoints and Viewpoint/Non-Fiction Writing. Each one contains non-fiction texts that explore a particular theme. There are lots of photos and some videos to engage students in the theme. There is a different extended writing activity at the end of each booklet: an article, a letter and a speech. Trhere are clear student-friendly instructions in the booklet explaining what needs to be done for each activity. The work book is in Microsoft Word format so students can type their answers straight into the document and save it. This also means that you can edit it too. Work Book 1: Urban Free Climbing/Extreme Sports Work Book 2: Animal Rights Work Book 3: Racial Inequality Also included is a 30 Day Challenge containing 30 different 5-10 minute starters that work on key skills across the curriculum, including: creative/descriptive writing, vocabulary building, Literature revision and viewpoint writing.

The first booklet covers some of the Language Paper 1 reading skills (through Dystopian literature - great extract from Noughts and Crosses is used) as well as the writing skills needed for Q5 (there is a ‘big write’ opportunity with planning support). In the other 2 work books there is a range of up to 7 activities covering the full range of English Language Paper 2 skills: Retrieval, Comparison, Summarising Differences, Synthesis, Analysing Language, Comparing Viewpoints and Viewpoint/Non-Fiction Writing.
