Mes vacances en France (revised and improved)

(28)
Powerpoint describing my fictional holiday to Marseille with a group of friends. Each slide describes includes text describing what is happening in that scene; however, the verb is in the infinitive and pupils need to conjugate it into the perfect tense themselves on the accompanying gap-fil worksheet. Thanks to the suggestions I recived on how to improve this resource.

Expo 1 vocabualry booklet

An A5 sized vocabulary booklet that I have put together for Expo 1. Each module is spread over 2 pages. The vocabulary is the same as that which appears in the Mots sections of the text book.

Perfect tense reference sheet

(6)
A handy reference worksheet on how to form the perfect tense. Includes both avoir and etre verbs (following the MRS VAN DER TRAMP method) as well as some common irregular past participles. I have significantly adapted a worksheet that I originally downloaded from here over 5 years ago. Unfortunately I cannot recall who had originally uploaded it but thanks to them. (it originally only contained the a full example of an avoir verb and a full example of an etre verb).

A vocabulary revison game A good aid to learning vocab, usually used as a plenary. A pupil sits in teacher's seat. They have 1 minute in which to answer as many questions as possible (I usually do what’s the French / English for…) In the minute, they are able to pass on only 1 question which they can come back to later if needed. If they give an incorrect answer, it is game over! Scores are recorded and whoever has the highest over a certain period of time (half-term perhaps) is the winner. A second pupil is chosen as the ‘board tapper’. This student moves the slide forward on the Interactive White Board when a correct answer is given so the whole class can see the score. A third pupil can be chosen as the time keeper and starts and ends the game using a stop watch.

Modern clothes

A Powerpoint presenting clothes vocabulary. Includes standard items such as trousers, shirt and shoes as well as things that the students assure me are fashionable like hoodie, beenie and jeggings(?????). The Powerpoint is on a loop, showing each item for 10 seconds. Of course this can be adapted, but I usually play it though several times on the loop. Students need to categorise the items using headings such as tops, bottoms, footwear, accesories etc... I usually have them write 1 category per page. Works well and is fun to watch!!!!

Loop Game: Daily Routine

(4)
A simple loop game on the topic of daily routine (includes both present and perfect tenses). The handout is cut into 18 strips with a phrase in French on the left and in English on the right. The strips are then handed out, one per student, in a random order. The student who has 'Je me lave' written on their slip reads it out. Whoever has the English equivalent reads it out. They then read out the French phrase on their slip. The pattern continues until the first student ends up reading out the second phrase on their slip. The loop is complete.
