<p>Designed by a Year 6 teacher and Reading SATs marker, this resource contains a PowerPoint of 10 reading texts with related questions, written in the style of 3 mark SATs questions, which require children to explain their answers using evidence from the text. It also includes answer prompts for children to use when responding to questions, both orally and in writing. All activities are aligned to the KS2 national tests-the questions are written in the style of recent tests, and the question stems are compiled from analysis of past SATs questions.</p> <p>Teaching the children to use the PEP (Point+Evidence+Point) strategy will be useful for these more difficult question types.</p> <p>Texts include fiction, non-fiction and poetry, as well as a mixture of less and more challenging texts. A set of ten maths tests, to last approximately 20 minutes, using past SATs questions. The tests cover all National Curriculum areas, and assess children working at the Year 6 Expected Standard. Questions include more accessible, and more challenging questions in a style similar to those of the National Tests. Tests 9 and 10 are marginally more challenging for children, and all tests offer opportunities for problem solving and reasoning. <br /> <br /> The resource could be used weekly to monitor progress of Year 6 pupils,or more regularly as general practice or revision in weeks leading up to SATs. They can be used to identify gaps in children's knowledge and to use as a basis from which to plan intervention.<br /> <br /> All tests are uploaded as Microsoft Word documents, and therefore are fully editable.
